Safety and Protection
We know that danger doesn't take a day off. Blundstone work and safety boots are built tough so the safety of your feet is one less thing you have to worry about on the job.
All certified Blundstone and John Bull safety styles, and other non-safety boots that are certified occupational styles, are type tested and manufactured under Product Certification requirements monitored by BSI to ensure that the manufacturing process at each certified site has the capability to produce certified products in compliance with each product's specified certification features. Guidance on selection, care and use of safety or protective or occupational footwear may be found at AS/NZS 2210.1.
CE AND UKCA CERTIFIED STYLES
CE is a mandatory requirement in the European Union for PPE products that are sold for health, safety and environmental purposes. UKCA is a mandatory requirement in the UK for PPE products that are sold for health, safety and environmental purposes.
The requirements for these certifications are set out in the European PPE Regulation. Blundstone provides a range of work and safety footwear products that have achieved CE and UKCA certification.
The following documents are combined CE and UKCA User Information Notices, an EU Declaration of Conformity for each of the Blundstone CE certified Product Groups, and a UKCA Declaration of Conformity for the Blundstone UKCA products.

SAFETY TOE CAPS
We don't believe in compromising your safety, which is why we manufacture a wide range of safety boots suited to all industries.
Steel toe caps provide the maximum protection against impact, cuts, penetration and rolling forces. Our steel toe caps are broad fitting (in width, height and length) and tested to a compression load of 15kN.
We also use broad fitting 200 Joule impact resistant composite toe cap in our Men’s and Women’s Jogger ranges. These styles are designed to keep you agile and are best suited to light industries. Our composite toe range also has the added benefit of being airport friendly.
If your feet are exposed to the risk of repetitive impacts, penetration or cutting hazards or electrical hazards, we recommend that you consider Blundstone’s steel safety toe boots as they may be more suited to your needs.
METATARSAL PROTECTION
Of the 26 bones in the foot, 19 are toe bones (phalanges) and five are metatarsal bones (the long bones in the mid foot). With little soft tissue to protect the top of the foot, metatarsal fractures are the most common traumatic foot injuries.
Several boots in our range provide metatarsal protection. A moulded guard made from XRD® Extreme Impact Protection material provides flexibility and absorbs up to 90% of the most extreme impacts, time after time.
ELECTRICAL HAZARD RESISTANCE
There are three categories of electrical conductivity in safety footwear under AS/2210.3 – insulating (also known as electrical hazard resistant, non-conductive or electric shock resistant and is only applicable to all-rubber or all-polymeric footwear), anti-static, and conductive.
ASTM F2413-18 Electrical hazard resistant footwear provides the greatest protection against electrical hazards. It’s a common misconception that metal in a boot is bad when working around electricity. The reality is, metal is conductive when it’s in contact with other metal, but steel toe caps and shanks are enclosed by non-conductive materials such as leather and rubber and are therefore safe to wear in environments where there are live circuits. Remember though that the level of electrical hazard protection of your footwear is severely lessened when there’s excessive wear on the outsole, or exposure to wet and humid conditions. If safety toe caps become exposed, the footwear is unfit for wear in any type of environment.
Our ASTM F2413-18 electrical hazard resistant products are capable of withstanding the application of 18,000V at 60Hz for 1 minute (with no current flow or leakage current in excess of 1.0mA under dry conditions: ASTM standard F2413-18). This type of boot should be worn by electricians, construction workers using power tools, or anyone working in an environment where the risk of spark ignition is less than electrocution.
This type of footwear is often classified with an “EH” rating. All Blundstone safety boots with the exception of styles 793/794/795 and 884/885/886/887 fall into this category.
Anti-static footwear discharges anti-static build-up. This dissipation of electrostatic charges lessens the risk of spark ignition of flammable substances and vapours. Anti-static footwear provides some protection against electrical hazards from live circuits (up to 240 volts) but not as great as electrical hazard resistant footwear. Powder coating, petro-chemicals, gas works, airport tarmac staff and refineries are some of the industries where anti-static footwear is preferred. Styles 793/794/795 and 884/885/886/887 are suitable for these environments. It’s important to regularly test safety boots because their condition will affect the level of protection provided.
Conductive footwear provides no protection from electrical shock. This type of footwear helps to protect the wearer in environments where the accumulation of static electricity on the body can be a hazard, such as handling explosive or other volatile materials. We do not make any footwear in this category.
